Gas Firing

“ I usually use the gas firing method for utilitarian objects and animals. The kiln must reach 1300 Degrees Celsius. The firing takes 15 to 16 hours during which time I have to make sure the temperature is even throughout the kiln.

I also have to reduce the oxygen in the kiln in order to introduce multiple nuances, which always becomes at once a delicate and fascinating operation.

When the time comes for removing the art pieces from the kiln, we are always in a mixed state
of anxiety and excitement. Everytime, the kiln surprises us which is often a new inspiration for the next firing. “
